Facilities are state of the art, lots of options for those who like competition style boulders. As a woman who went in alone, there was maybe one woman for every twenty six foot tall men. The setting reflected the gender demographic in my opinion, many of the climbs were not accessible for shorter women and were strength based. Staff was friendly, I think the gym just needs to better reflect its entire customer base when setting. Some of the boulders bordered on more dangerous than it’s worth with giant dynos over volumes.
Lovely gym, lovely staff!
Only a few minor gripes:
There are no air filters removing chalk to help with the A/C troubles because it goes down every summer (not to mention being easier on the lungs). This is probably a symptom of the huge crowds that find their way into the gym at peak hours, so I guess that can’t be helped. Great facility otherwise :D AC aside, the setting is still awesome and the people are great.
I stopped here for a climbing session as I was in town for a couple days. The place was packed pretty popular and has a wide range of problems. I am in the V3-V4 range so I found pretty interesting problems to solve. The space looked pretty clean and the staff was super helpful. The fitness center was also pretty good and clean. I did not check the yoga center though.
I wish I could give negative rating if it allows. The smell inside is very bad. It's hot even with AC on. And the AC is always broken and it takes months to fix. It's way too hot, uncomfortable and crowded in the gym. The holds are significantly more greasy than any other gyms I have been to. Water filter, soap dispenser, and paper towel very often lack replacement / refill. What's worse, the routes are only for dynamic climbers or if you are 6+ft. The idea of the route setters is use an old V0/V1 route, and add one dynamic move, then it becomes a V4, and add two dynamic move, then it becomes a V5. The result is you’ll see people get injured and ambulance comes now and then. Really dangerous. The day pass and membership are expensive, not worth the money.
Good sized gym with a fair number of climbs in the v3 and under range. I am nursing a minor finger injury so I avoided and crimps and pockets and I was still able to find 42 climbs here v3 and under I could do to get some exercise. …
Place was packed on a tue evening. Staff were helpful. Gym had plenty of grades across lots of nice angles. Route grading was abit softer than I'm used to from Singapore. I'm v5/6 in Singapore and 7 here.
I like that there’s a lot of squat racks. I never have to wait for one to open. I also like that for the most part, people using them understand common lifting etiquette.
Common complaint: the smell here is so strong. This is a newer gym and it smells like you’re walking into an old gym sock. And the AC is supposedly being fixed…for months and months it’s been broken. You can visibly see the chalk floating around in the air throughout the gym. That can’t be good to be breathing in… also.
Women’s locker rooms have signs that say to not wear climbing shoes in the bathroom stalls. But there’s so many women walking in and out of there barefoot and then proceed to walk all over the gym. Their feet are black from dirt.
Also, there were two women FaceTiming within the women’s locker room. Were they taking a call with a friend? Were they streaming to a social media platform? Not sure. Coming out of the showers feel unsafe.
Management: please make sure the locker rooms feel safe.
Love this gym. Staff are friendly. Workout area is very decent. But 2 years in a row, the A/C always seems broken for a few weeks or couple months. Can't tell if truly broken or if Movement's corporate overlord is trying to save money. …
